I love how you plan to use this space. I also plan to use Substack to explore spiritual formation, informed by my background in mental health. It seems that people are engaging here in a thoughtful way rather than a combative way, which is very welcome when so many of us are weary and wounded from those battles. Welcome. (Hugs, Carmon) ❤️
Hey aimee! So thankful for your voice and happy to subscribe. My pastor just gave me Rosaria Butterfields new book. I am about to read it, but saw a chapter about the lie of feminism. Kevin Deyoung wrote the forward so I know I’m in for it. Have you read it? I would love to read your review on it!
I've really appreciated reading the whole of your story.
I am 88 and I've never been an Evangelical.
It was as a result of a church split in 1995 that I was 'forced' for a second time to reconsider just about everything I had been taught. It didn't take very long to recognise the FEAR, GUILT and SHAME that was generated by Evangelicalism. I just 'knew' that this was misguided.
That very briefly is how I became an outside observer of American Evangelicalism over 25 years ago.
I have had the privilege of sharing something of the stories of several leaders and former leaders who have been drawn away from churches they may have attended for many years.
I've only recently finished updating my blog. Our journeys through Christendom have been so very different, but I just sensed that you might appreciate a very different picture.
I love all of this. So much resonates with me, and I am so excited for this pivot. Vulnerability is always a risk; thank you for taking that risk!
We will need a weekly funky pants pic
I subscribed on the tee-shirt alone! ;-)
It is pretty awesome!

Excited to follow along in this next chapter for you.
Subscribed and anticipating the next piece!

Hi Lauren, thanks for subscribing. I have not read that one.
I found your writing here earlier this morning.
