oh my goodness!! I too will order right away. I just taught Sarah and Hagar to my Bible study in a women’s prison. There is a beautiful sculpture of Hagar, which I printed a copy of for them to keep to remind themselves that they are never separated from their God.

the I was very lucky to be raised in a church where I saw women love, encourage each other, support their choices, come along in hardships not nitpick to death by each other. Sadly the evangelical church seems to be a breeding ground for female insecurity, power brokering, distrust, and shame.

Yes, it's so antithetical to how God created us.

I want to get that book and read it...it was already in my Amazon wish list.

You might like to read the autobiographical Princess series about life in Saudi Arabia, where in the third book, after learning to stick up for themselves and each other, the pampered royal women decide to do something to protect the exploited and abused women around them.

We may not live in a formally instituted patriarchy like they did, but the marginalization of women continues to this day. Makes me wanna scream. And puke. But I don't. Well, sometimes I scream and sometimes I am very close to puking all over a patriarchist. I also try to stand with and behind women. Lead on, Aimee.

Thank you for helping me see more of myself through the eyes of the God who sees. Oh, how I want to be free of the wounds I have received at the hands of other women…but how much more do I want to be free from being one who wounds.

Aimee: I know at one point you were a part of a podcast. Do you do that kind of work anymore? Thinking of how important it is for us to model loving kindness, a spirit of welcome instead of competition—and how beautifully that could be presented in podcast form.

Thank you, Kelsey. I too want to be free from being one who wounds. So often I fall back into operating from that mindset of scarcity. Women wounding other women like this is the height of patriarchy. The pitting against one another distracts from the system we've been under. It's time to know our value, and see others through this lens of the eyes of God.

Every now and then I record a YouTube podcast with theologian Mike Bird. It's hard to get our schedules in line for it, though, with him being in Australia and me here in Maryland. I love the conversational aspect of podcasting, but am not very good with the technology side or the thinking many people would want to listen to me starting one of my own.

Would love to talk podcasting more—would love to start by having you on for an interview. Reaching out through Facebook messenger since I have no idea if one can PM through substack.

Just ordered the book.👏🏻 I hope this is a means to encourage as I look ahead to the Ladies Study that will resume this fall. It was weak at best but this is who I study with right now…so I desire to be patient but to challenge and stir a deeper conversation as well. Thank you

This story makes me so sad because you have two women ultimately in pain because they didn’t see that that have worth apart from their abilities to produce children. They hurt everyone around them in their pain. They were defined by the standards of their day (we have them still) and it makes them cruel to one another. Thankfully, Jesus tells us a different story about who we are as women, heirs, wives, mothers, daughters, aunts, grandmothers, and friends. We already have everything we need from Him in order to change this horrible, jealous behavior that leads to sin. We can freely love our sisters and promotes and celebrate them! That is such good news in contrast to this story. It has taken me many years to get to this point and I still feel the sting from other women at times, but Christ really did change everything if only I can remember it!

Here is a fantastic thread I just read, revealing how God's covenant was with Abraham AND Sarah. Thought you might like to read it as well, as it shows that Jesus is revealing God's will all along:
